Are you getting curious to know who might have lived in your house? Was it a writer, inventor, politician or a notable eccentric straight from the pages of a Dickens novel? Maybe it's time to commission a house history to find out!
Dr Barker has mostly, but by no means only, worked in London, researching houses large and small, including what proved to have been the former homes of actors, admirals, architects, artists, authors, Chelsea pensioners, circus proprietors, film stars, heroes, House of Commons cooks, philosophers, playwrights, scientists and umbrella makers.
Outside London, he has worked for example in Kent, Oxfordshire and Somerset on a variety of types of properties, from cottages to country houses.
